Fantomina

Eliza Haywood creates a fascinating story about a young maiden who tries to take control of her life yet ends up learning a moral lesson from her actions. Fantomina disguises herself through muliple personas, appearing promiscuous, as an action to show she can control her life just as a man can. However her table turns and she does a mental switch when she is conquered by a man. Fantomina is thrown karma when she becomes pregnant by the man. Moral lessons are always hidden or prominant in stories and I feel as though Eliza Haywood was trying to inform the reader that not being yuorself could cause you harm, that even though society may be twisted it may be best to conform to social norms.
