The History of the Nun

Aphra Behn creates a very intriguing tale with The History of the Nun. I found this tale quite startling around the ending. This tale shows an instance where several laws are broken. There are several occurrances where social customs were broken as well. Behn shows a woman in distress between doing the right thing or covering her tracks. She shows the hardships that women endured when it came to religion and love. In the ending of the story where people condone her actions and listen to her sermon before her death, I believe it is the inner plea of them all, longing not to be scrutinized or comanded to the extent that have been.
