Exploring Medieval Romance through the writing of Marie de France opens the eye to a main part of Medieval Romance, courtly love. In Equitan Marie brings realistic events to her story, creating a relatable background for her audience. While reading this piece a mixture of thoughts and emotions soared through me. It was suprising to read the twist and turns the story took from Equitan, the king, falling for a mans wife, to the wife and the king "ca-noodling" and the ressult of such being their death. I was intrigued to learn about the letting of blood and how many marriages were so unhappy that it was commor for spouses to have lovers. The Medieval period in my eyes was one of relatable yet intriging substance based on my research and readings.
